INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Brave Whales School

GENERAL INFORMATION

Dear Parents

We are Svetlana Karpeeva and Roman Rybin, the founders and coaches of the Brave Whales Swimming School. Our main facility is located at the Juanita Aquatics Center in Kirkland.

The goals of the Brave Whales Swimming School are to:

  • Spark children's interest in sports.
  • Reinforce water safety skills.
  • Foster a culture of active, healthy living.
  • Assist children in adapting to social environments.
  • Introduce children and their parents to competitive swimming, particularly within the USA Swimming system.
  • Teach all four competitive swimming strokes.
  • Motivate and prepare children and parents for continued participation in swimming through USA Swimming clubs.
  • Unite children and parents of the Brave Whales community through a shared commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle.

The optimal age for mastering the first 2-3 competitive swimming strokes is 6-8 years. At this age, children's musculoskeletal systems are generally ready to overcome water resistance, and their nervous systems are mature enough to absorb coaching and effectively learn motor skills in a group setting.

When your child begins training with us, we offer an introductory "tryout period" of one lesson or one month to observe how well the child adjusts to the classes, the group, and other conditions. If we decide together that your child will continue swimming with Brave Whales on a regular basis, we will sign a contract with you. Before the "tryout period," you can choose to pay for just one lesson or one month, or extend after the first lesson.

According to the rules of Brave Whales and to ensure noticeable progress, the minimum attendance is once a week. You are entitled to one makeup session per month, subject to availability in alternative groups.

At the beginning of each month, we send out an invoice for payment. There may be occasions when the pool is unavailable on a weekend day. Typically, we combine Saturday and Sunday groups and conduct team relays, or we may offer you a weekday lesson instead.

In addition to swimming, the Brave Whales school offers other physical activities. We will gradually introduce you to everything our school has to offer. In brief: part of our training process includes competitions held approximately every two months, which the children thoroughly enjoy. In winter, we organize day trips for cross-country skiing, and in summer, we lead hiking trips and conduct 5-day summer camps. We also offer wellness activities in the pool and outdoors for adults.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Svetlana and Roman
